Cotignac, Village of character

Located in a magic settings, in Var department, in Provence – Alpes – Côte d’Azur region, Cotignac has an ideal geographical location, between the Mediterranean and the Gorges du Verdon.

Labeled Most Beautiful Village of France in 2022, Cotignac is a village of character; its colorful facades and winding alleys give it this special charm that inspired so many artists.

Cours Gambetta, the main thoroughfare, is lined with plane trees while the magnificent cliffs dominate the ancient roofs. Large cavities in the rock house cave dwellings that can be visited.

The village offers a large number of shops selling fresh and local products,  bakeries, butcher, fish shop, but also galleries and art center, antiques, household items, pharmacy and many others.

Tuesday is the day of the big market where you can buy all year your favorite traditional Provencal dishes, clothes, table linen, soaps, baskets, olive wood, honey, etc.

Of course, the region is well known for its rosé wine, there are many vineyards and some are also present on the market.

In the heart of a generous nature, many paths are accessible for hiking or mountain biking  ; and a few minutes drive away is the climbing site of the Sourn Valley. 

Cotignac is also a famous place for pilgrimage  : between the Monastery of Saint Joseph and the Shrine of Notre-Dame de Grâces, the beauty of the place aspires to meditation.
